Sketches/ Ideas
For my notebook I wanted to do a bucks theme on each side of the notebook because they are my favorite NBA team. I chose to put the bucks logo on the front and my favorite player Giannis on the back.

Since the water bottle was purple, I thought that the design should be a Waunakee Warriors theme. Football is my favorite sport so I figured that Waunakee football would be my theme for the water bottle.

For the Thingiverse Item I wanted something that looked interesting but was also easy to assemble. I chose the sports car because it meant both of those criteria.

Notebook
My design for the notebook was the same as I described up top. I designed the notebook using Adobe Illustrator, which was the program I used to create all of my projects. The picture on the left is what my notebook file looked like on Inventor,
The material I used to cut out my laser was mat board and I used the laser engrave to engrave my design. Across is what my notebook looked like on the UCP. Across are a couple of pictures of while my notebook covers were printing and my final image is from when the notebook was finished getting engraved. Next I used a notebook hole puncher, a paper cutter and a spiral notebook binder to finish creating my notebook. My final 3 images are each cover of my notebook and me using the notebook. |
Waterbottle
My next project was the water bottle. I also used the same initial design that I put in the top of the website. I also used Illustrator to design the water bottle. The farthest picture on the right is what my water bottle looked like on Inventor. The next 2 pictures is my water bottle on the ucp before it started engraving and while it was engraving.
Different than the 2 other projects using illustrator instead of using the laser I used a rotary jig to engrave the design onto the water bottle. Across is the laser engraving my design onto the water bottle. My final 2 pictures are the water bottle after it has been engraved. I was very happy with how the design turned out and it has been my favortie project so far. The last picture is me filling up my water bottle to get a drink. |
Thingiverse
For my Thingiverse item I chose a sports car because it was interesting and easy to assemble. To the right was the UCP file for the sports car while it was printing.
The next 2 images are the laser cutting out my cardboard sports car. It was very interesting to see how much time it must have taken for the initial creator to create this in inventor |
What I learned
I learned so much during all 3 projects in the Individual laser rotation. First of all I bettered my skills with Adobe Illustrator because I used it on 3 different projects not including my key chain from before. I also learned how to use the rotary jig on the laser. When I heard from other kids who took IDEA last semester I saw there water bottles and I always wondered how the made it and now I know. Lastly I also had to use Time management. When Mrs. Proctor first announced the project I thought that I was gonna have to come in at contact time to finish 3 projects in 4 class periods but I was able to finish all 3 projects with no contact time needed.
